I’m a video remix artist subverting the carefully constructed world of corporate content to work off my massive consumption of pop-culture and reverse the psycho-social toll it takes on my sense of self. I also believe that women want more stories about other women that don’t revolve around men. The only way to do this is to make the stories ourselves. Remix allows me to create tangible examples of what these stories might look like without the old ball and chain of the traditional production system. When people don’t like my version, remix encourages them to make their own. |
I’m a writer 2.0: I ‘write’ with video with the goal of being properly compensated for writing better stories about women that don't revolve around men. My work has been featured on the front page of the Boston Globe, in BitchMag, on Salon.com, Jezebel, Art21 (blog) and in festivals and galleries throughout the US and Europe. I contribute to BlogHer, NAMACblog, The Grindstone and co-editPoliticalRemixVideo.com. My remix tools and resources can be found in the new book, “Reality Bites Back: The Troubling Truth About Guilty Pleasure TV.” Elisa currently works at the Women's Media Center helping to make women more visible and powerful in the media. |
